Reliance on Russian Fossil Fuels in OECD and EU Countries
Share of total domestic consumption of oil, natural gas, coal and total fossil fuels coming from Russian imports
Overview
The indicators are calculated as follows:
Total reliance
This indicator is the ratio of Russian fossil fuel imports to total domestic consumption.
Fuel reliance for total oil, coal, and natural gas
This indicator is the ratio of Russian imports to domestic fuel consumption. This indicator represents the importance of imports from Russia and is calculated for oil, natural gas and coal. Please note that these three indicators cannot be aggregated as they are computed on different basis (total energy supply for each fuel).
Note that the annual shares shown here for oil may not correspond to the shares shown in the monthly Russian oil import reliance data because of data collection and methodological differences. Notably, this dataset excludes aviation and marine bunkers and the biofuel fractions of biogasoline, biodiesel and ethanol, which are included in the monthly data.
