Autumn 2021 Update of the Sustainable Recovery Tracker
In July 2021, the IEA published its Sustainable Recovery Tracker, which showed only 2% of the total fiscal support spent by governments in response to the Covid-19 crisis was allocated to clean energy measures. That amounts to one-third of the amount envisaged by the IEA Sustainable Recovery Plan to put the world on track for net zero emissions by 2050 while also boosting global economic growth and creating millions of new jobs.
As encouraged in the 2021 G20 Energy-Climate Ministerial Communiqué, an updated version of the Tracker will assess the impact of newly enacted recovery measures by governments on clean energy investment, energy sector employment and global emissions.
