Behavioural Insights for Inclusive Energy Policy

Many aspects of clean energy transitions will hinge on behaviour – how people use energy in their daily lives, what appliances they choose to purchase, and how business and employees make decisions. In IEA’s Net Zero by 2050 scenario, 4% of the total emissions will be mitigated by behavioural changes at the individual level.

Behavioural changes are an important source of mitigation – people behaving in ways that reduce energy use (and lower energy demand), lead to lower emissions and more efficient growth. The latest behavioural sciences can help policymakers understand low-carbon behaviour changes and design policies which encourage such shifts. Likewise, behavioural insights can help inform policy and programme design across sectors to help improve reception and uptake by different segments of the public.

This event, which will be opened and closed by Belgium Minister of Energy Tinne Van Der Straeten, will explore how behavioural insights can help accelerate clean energy transitions and ensure an inclusive energy future for all.

This webinar will inform the discussions of the Global Commission on People-Centred Clean Energy Transitions.

It will be livestreamed on the day of the event on this page.
