IEA at COP28: The role of Latin America and the Caribbean in the new world energy economy

This High-Level session will discuss the leadership of Latin American and Caribbean countries in clean energy transitions worldwide. The distinguished panellists will discuss the investment needs and policy reforms necessary to take full advantage of the new energy economy. Key energy leaders from Latin American and Caribbean countries will showcase how they are facing, navigating, and implementing their energy transition reforms and action plans. The International Energy Agency (IEA) will share the main findings of its first-ever Latin America Energy Outlook and expand on the region’s potential to play a major role in the global energy transition. Additionally, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will discuss its work supporting Latin America and the Caribbean’s just and secure energy transition.
