Background information

This session will introduce the key findings and recommendations of the Global Commission on People-Centred Clean Energy Transitions, an independent panel of 30 members convened by the International Energy Agency to examine the social and economic impacts of the shift to cleaner energy technologies on individuals and communities. Global Commission members and other high-level speakers will be invited to react to these findings and highlight new initiatives developed in support of a global just and people-centred transition.

This event is part of the EU Energy Day organised at the EU pavilion of the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP26. The EU Energy Day is a series of high-level events that will highlight the European Union’s leadership in clean energy transition and engagement towards a global green recovery and just transition. Each event will bring together policy-makers, business and civil society leaders to discuss global initiatives advancing the Paris Agreement’s objectives.
