IEA-ICAP-KAS Carbon Pricing Dialogue - Aligning policies and raising ambition for reaching carbon neutrality in the Asia-Pacific
Background information
The International Energy Agency (IEA), in collaboration with the International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP) and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung’s Regional Programme Energy Security and Climate Change (KAS RECAP), is hosting a public webinar on November 24th 2021.
The topic of the workshop is on aligning policies and raising ambition for reaching carbon neutrality in the Asia Pacific. COP26 came at a critical juncture to secure global net-zero by mid-century and avoid the worst climate impacts. The overall trend in the Asia-Pacific region points to increasing ambition, with multiple jurisdictions having stepped up their national climate objectives through updated NDCs and carbon-neutrality pledges. Carbon pricing instruments play an essential role among the policies needed to expedite emissions reductions quickly and in time to stabilize global temperatures. This workshop provides a space for policymakers and experts from the Asia Pacific to share the latest updates on the role of carbon pricing in their policy mix and the steps being taken towards achieving long-term climate goals.
