Workshop — Kiev, Ukraine

Policy Dialogue Event on Energy Efficiency Policy and Technology, Kiev, Ukraine, 5 November 2014

Background

The objective of the event is to identify through policy dialogue the steps and action options to mitigate the negative impacts of energy shortfalls by implementing emergency energy efficiency measures. The discussion is meant to catalyze a process for the development of medium-long term energy efficiency roadmap for Ukraine.

Key issues of discussions:

  • How to stimulate consumers to curb practices of wasteful energy usage: which are the most effective action options?
  • What is the current strategy for emergency policy interventions?
  • Which short-term sectoral policy measures are likely to be needed in the heating and power sector respectively?
  • Choosing between a range of tools such as rationing, price signals and information campaigns

The event was organised by the International Energy Agency (IEA) in the framework of the International Low-Carbon Energy Technology Platform in collaboration with the State Agency on Energy Efficicency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE) and with the support of the governments of the United Kingdom and Poland.
