Background information
The International Energy Agency (IEA) and Peking University’s Institute of Energy are pleased to invite you to the China-based launch of the IEA report World Energy Investment 2024, taking place on Wednesday, 17 July 2024.
World Energy Investment 2024 gives a full update on the investment picture in 2023 and an initial reading of the emerging picture for 2024. It provides a global benchmark for tracking capital flows in the energy sector and examines how investors are assessing risks and opportunities across areas of fuel and electricity supply, efficiency, research and development and energy finance. This year’s edition includes a new regional section covering 10 major economies and regions, including China. It also assesses additional efforts needed to meet the COP28 goals to transition away from fossil fuels, triple renewable capacity and double the rate of improvements in energy efficiency by 2030. IEA experts will present the key findings of The World Energy Investment 2024 report. This will be followed by a discussion among a panel of energy investment experts from China.
