IEA Head of Energy Efficiency Brian Motherway launched the Chinese Abridged Version of Energy Efficiency 2018 in Beijing on 8 January. The launch took place at the China Energy Economy Forum and was jointly organised with the China Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (CCEEE), IEA’s partner in the project.

The China Energy Economy Forum brought together over 200 officials and experts from government, industry, and academia to discuss latest trends and opportunities for development and green innovations in China’s energy economy. The annual Climate Leader Award ceremony also took place during the Forum, recognising a number of companies for their leadership and contribution to the climate agenda. The achievements of Beijing Capital Airport were recognised in terms of energy consumption reductions through advanced energy management systems along with achievements of GREE in leading innovation in appliance efficiency.

The IEA looks forward to further collaborative activities with China on energy efficiency in 2019.
