Infrastructure and Jobs act: Repairing and rebuilding roads and bridges

Last updated: 10 March 2022

The Infrastructure Investment and Job Act will invest $110 billion to strengthen roads, bridges and launch major projects. The goal of this initiative is to repair and rebuild roads and bridges with an emphasis on climate change mitigation, resilience, equity, and safety for all road users, including bikes and pedestrians. The measure provides $40 billion in new money for bridge repair, replacement, and rehabilitation, the single largest dedicated bridge investment since the interstate highway system was built. Around $16 billion is set aside in the law for substantial projects that are too vast or complex for standard funding sources but will benefit communities economically.
