Northern Shaanxi to Hubei power transmission project

The ±800 kV UHV DC project power transmission project aims to contribute to the development of the western and central regions of China as part of the 13th Five year power plan. The total investment of the project is 18.5 billion yuan to be operational in 2021. Upon completion the northern Shaanxi energy base will supply the Hubei load center and transmit 40 billion kWh of electricity every year, providing the supply from Shaanzi to meet the demand in Hubei. This is one of the first UHV transmission upgrades, providing 1,137 km of line and a rated transmission capacity of 8 GW.
