Mineral Mining and Processing Effluent Guidelines
The Mineral Mining and Processing Effluent Guidelines and Standards were promulgated by the EPA in 1975 and amended in 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1979. The regulation covers wastewater discharges from mineral drainage, mineral processing operations and stormwater runoff.
These guidelines apply to wastewater discharge from facilities in 21 subcategories covering extraction of a wide variety of minerals. The Mineral Mining regulatory requirements are incorporated into National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits.
