National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP)

Last updated: 15 May 2023

The Kingdom of Bahrain launched in 2014 its Sustainable Energy Unit (SEU) in cooperation with the Office of the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
To implement the country's transition towards renewable energy, the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP) launched in 2017 twenty-two sustainable development initiatives across all economic sectors to reach the national target of 6% in energy consumption reduction by 2025.
This includes measures and projects on solar and wind farms, waste-to-energy projects, industrial renewable energy initiatives and energy-efficient new buildings.
