Heat Strategy 2050

The Swiss government announced in January 2023 the Heat Strategy 2050 with the aim to decarbonise heat supply by 2050. The strategy includes various measures for 10 areas: building efficiency; heating systems;  thermal networks; thermal storage; electrification; renewable gases and synthetic fuels; Confederation, cantons and municipalities; legislation; skilled labor. The heat sector currently accounts for around 50% of energy consumption in Switzerland and accounts for more than 35% of total CO2 emissions.
