The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) is established under the Energy Act of 2006. With effect from July 2007, the Electricity Regulatory Board became Energy Regulatory Commission.The Renewable Energy Department of the ERC is responsible for:- Assisting the Ministry of Energy to develop and monitor regulations and standards for all forms of renewable energy. This will be done in consultation with statutory bodies such as the Kenya Bureau of Standards and Kenya Forest Services;- Preparing an indicative energy plan for renewable using available energy data and carrying out relevant research activities in this sector;- Promoting energy efficiency and conservation across the renewable sector as well as the petroleum and electricity sector
