Excise Tax Reduction for Hybrid Cars

Excise duties are set depending on the engine type, the cylindrical capacity, and the year of its manufacture. Hybrid plug-in cars are exempted from 50% of the excise duty, hybrid type 25% and electric cars 100%. The Fiscal Code establishes the method of calculating and paying the road tax by vehicles registered in the Republic of Moldova, which is calculated taking into account the technical characteristics of the vehicle (cylinder capacity, number of seats), specified in the registration certificate. Respectively, electric cars are exempt from paying this tax.
