The Law on Energy defines renewable energy sources as energy derived from natural resources, such as hydropower, solar and wind energy, biomass energy and energy which flows out from the centre to the surface of the earth, i.e. geothermal energy.

The Law on Energy stipulates also that the efficient use of renewable energy resources is to be promoted by the state and under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Economy.

The State is to promote the use of renewable energy resources through the provision of soft loans, subsidies and preferential taxes, etc. (ficial support).

The Law establishes National Control Commission for Prices and Energy ("Commission") which is responsible for setting purchasing prices of electricity generated from different renewable energy sources (feed-in tariffs). The primary parties to benefit from these guaranteed tariffs are generators which use renewable energy resources for electricity production. hese generators should have access to the electricity network and must be paid according to the guaranteed (supported) tariffs, to ensure long-term security. The Ministry of Economy determinates the order and conditions of connection to the national grid.
