The 2013 National Energy Policy is the document that will facilitate the establishment of appropriate infrastructure, provide enabling environment and development of the energy sector. There are seven strategic areas which includes Governace and Institutional Arrangement, Grid-Based Power Supply, Rural Electrification, Petroluem and Biofuels, Renewable Energy, Transport and Energy Effciency. The strategies is aligned to the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) global initiative aimed to mobilise actions from all sectors of society to achieve the three objectives below by 2030:Ensure universal access to modern energy servicesDouble the global rate of improvements in energy efficiencyDouble the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix.During the National Census 2007 over 80% of Fiji's household have basic form of electricity and with the number of projects for the past years, the current is about 90%. With the new policy, the coverage should close to 100% in 2020.
