Development of innovative energy efficiency technologies

Last updated: 24 August 2021
This project offers support for the development of innovative energy efficiency technologies, aiming at their commercialization. The applications should be reviewed by New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). Provision of subsidy differs by the technological development stage. For example, those technologies at initial R & D phase should be able to receive two thirds of the necessary cost, while those technologies at practical development phase should be able to receive two thirds or half of necessary costs. Meanwhile, those technologies at feasibility testing phase (prior to commercialization phase) should be able to receive half or one third of necessary cost. It is important to note that applications could be made either by (1) one entity (e.g. company, university) with the focus on one technology or (2) collaboration among the multiple entities (with different industrial/business types) that can tackle common issues. Subsidy rateUp to 1/2 to 2/3 of project cost (depending on development phase)
