NOM-020-ENER-2011: Energy efficiency in buildings. Building envelope for residential use

Last updated: 5 November 2017
This standard establishes the limits of heat gains of residential buildings through its envelope. Applies to all new buildings and extensions of existing buildings. The design of the new building is compared to a reference building keeping the same orientation, the same adjoining conditions and the same dimensions in plan and elevation of the projected housing building. Heat gain through as-built building envelopes shall be less than or equal to heat gain from the reference building envelope. NOM-008 sets values for fenestration areas, heat gain coefficient and shading coefficient for opaque and transparent elements of walls and roofs of the reference building.
