MEPS - Room Air Conditioners- Unitary & Single-phase split AC

Last updated: 12 May 2021
The standard specifies the energy labelling requirements for single-phase split and unitary air conditioners of the vapour compression type for household use up to a rated cooling capacity of 11 kW and that fall within the scope of IS1391 Part 1 and Part 2, being manufactured, imported, or sold in India. This scheme specifies the following:1. Rated power (input).2. Rated capacity (output).3. Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) for cooling.4. Star rating.5. Some of the requirements for energy label validity.6. The performance criteria for energy labelling validity.7. Test report format.8. Printing requirements for air conditioner appliance energy labels. IS1391 is split into two parts-IS 1391 (Part 1) : 1992 Room air conditioners - Specification : Part 1 Unitary air conditionersIS 1391 (Part 2) : 1992 Room air conditioners - Specification : Part 2 Split air conditioners Room air conditionerThe power consumption should not exceed Rated cooling capacity: 1500 kcal/h - maximum power consumption: 1.1kW Rated cooling capacity: 2250 kcal/h - maximum power consumption: 1.4kW Rated cooling capacity: 3000 kcal/h - maximum power consumption: 1.6kW Rated cooling capacity: 3750 kcal/h - maximum power consumption: 2.0kW Rated cooling capacity: 4500 kcal/h - maximum power consumption: 2.4kW Rated cooling capacity: 6000 kcal/h - maximum power consumption: 3.2kW Rated cooling capacity: 7500 kcal/h - maximum power consumption: 4.25kW Rated cooling capacity: 9000 kcal/h - maximum power consumption: 5.2kW Split air conditioners:The power consumption should not exceed Rated cooling capacity: 3000 kcal/h - maximum power consumption: 1.7kW Rated cooling capacity: 4500 kcal/h - maximum power consumption: 2.6kW Rated cooling capacity: 6000 kcal/h - maximum power consumption: 3.4kW Rated cooling capacity: 7500 kcal/h - maximum power consumption: 4.5kW Rated cooling capacity: 9000 kcal/h - maximum power consumption: 5.4kW
