Energy efficiency interventions in public buildings

In the framework of the Operational Programme "Environment and Sustainable Development € and with respect to energy efficiency in the public sector 14 calls for proposals with a total budget of about 330 million € have been issued from 2009 to 2013. Proposals concern projects for electricity and heat generation (shallow geothermal, photovoltaics, solar thermal systems for hot water production, high efficiency combined heat and power installations and exploitation of thermal energy for cooling) and energy efficiency interventions in public buildings (schools, hospital, office buildings etc.) such as insulation, replacement of frames and glazing, green roofs, replacement of burner / boiler system with a renewable energy sources based or natural gas based system. The evaluation procedure is in progress and 100 projects with total budget 130 million € have been already approved.
