Free Trade Agreement Between Canada and the States of the European Free Trade Association (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland)
The Free Trade Agreement Between Canada and the States of the European Free Trade Association (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland) eliminates non-trade measures and import tariffs for most industrial and energy products including:
- Electric motors, turbines and generators;
- Mechanical equipment including pumps, appliances, and other advanced machinery;
- Electric accumulators, transformers, capacitors, batteries;
- Motor vehicles;
- Mineral ore, slag and ash;
- Mineral fuels, oils and other products;
- Metals and their articles e.g. iron and steel;
- Semiconductors devices and photovoltaic cells;
Rule of origins delineated in the Agreement notably recognise the following criteria for goods to qualify for the tariff treatment defined in the Agreement
- For ores, slag and ash: manufacturing materials that undergo changes through production process
- For petroleum oils and gases : certain refinery processes, including direct blending.
- manufacturing materials incorporating materials of external origin valued below 50 - 65% of the transaction value of the good or the ex-works price of the product
