ENERGY STAR Labeled Buildings and Plants

Last updated: 5 November 2017
ENERGY STAR Labeled Buildings and Plants is a labeling programme for qualified facilities that meet strict energy performance standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to use less energy, are less expensive to operate, and lead to fewer greenhouse gas emissions than their peers. The ENERGY STAR Label is available for 12 types of manufacturing plants, and 21 types of commercial buildings, including retail stores, hotels, schools, supermarkets and other facilities. Nearly 9,000 buildings across the United States have earned the Energy Star label for superior energy efficiency over the past decade. Energy Star buildings typically use 35 percent less energy and emit 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than average buildings.
