The Nation development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) have initiated the International Science and Technology Cooperation Programme in Renewable Energy to boost Chinese technological development. The programme aims to introduce cutting-edge technologies in the national market, attract overseas scientists and develop exchange programmes with international research centres. In 2010, slightly more than 103 agreements on technology sharing, transfer and trading had been concluded with 97 countries. Specific attention is devoted to research in the fields of solar power generation and solar powered building structures, biomass gasification and power generation, and large high-efficiency wind turbines for onshore and offshore projects.
